The Partners
Mike Ruth and Jim Brandewie are both long-time respected leaders in the Triangle’s real estate industry; experienced in developing, building and marketing custom homes. This is where they make their homes and raise their families. They are committed to preserving the feel and value of the communities that make this area so desirable – places where you and your family will be proud to live, play and prosper.
In 2010, Community Properties joined the Copperleaf Development Team. Speaking for the group of long-time local real estate businessmen Tommy Fonville, Robbie Swain and Jim Thompson; Fonville said, “There is not a neighborhood in the Triangle with a success story like Copperleaf and we’re excited about the opportunity to be a part of it.
Our Team Developers headerCopperleaf Properties was formed by partners Jim Brandewie and Mike Ruth specifically to develop Copperleaf’s unique potential.

In 2000, the Town of Cary instituted the Southwest Area Plan which “emphasizes environmental protection, lower density and preservation of rural land patterns”. Here the partners saw an opportunity to develop the kind of neighborhood that was truly out of the ordinary. Copperleaf would provide large homesites in an idyllic setting and access to the American Tobacco Trail and Cary parks and greenways planned for this part of town.

Copperleaf became the first neighborhood to be approved by the town of Cary in the Southwest Area. It is that shared vision of the Town and the Derby Downs partners that we’re proud to bring you today.
